Daily Sweetness

This is a new segment we plan on making a weekly occurrence. In a nutshell, onceĀ  a week we will share about something that brings us a little joy in our busy lives. It could be photography related or not at all. So sit back and enjoy the first post, we hope it brightens your day.

So something about me that you might be surprised to hear, is that I am a country boy at heart. Living in the congested are of New Jersey that we currently reside means rush hour traffic, rude people, and crazy drivers. There are plenty of beautiful areas here too, but I long for quiet dirt roads and people that are friendly and courteous. While I enjoy music from the likes of Dave Matthews, Switchfoot and John Mayer, I secretly enjoy a bit of country and bluegrass. One of my favorite artists is Nickel Creek, a more modern sounding bluegrass band. I had a chance to see them years ago with my brother in NYC and then once again with Carolyn while we were dating (see my photo below). Now before you judge, take a minute to watch the video below and see what you think. This trio met while very young and played into their early adult years until a few years ago when they decided to break up temporarily so as to pursue other creative opportunities. Most of the music we hear on the local pop stations is over-processed and over-produced, but there are still true artists out there who take the time to write their own songs.

I love the smooth blend of voices and instruments. I love the soothing affect of the sound. I love the peace I feel when listening to this song, because I think about how I get caught up in all the little things, trying to do things on my own, and this helps me to remember that I need to trust and rely on others.
