Kate and Sean are married! They made their vows to one another at the beautiful Olde Mill Inn in Basking Ridge, one of our favorite places. They saw each other for the first time at the always amazing Cross Estate Gardens where they were able to take in all the beauty and excitement of the moment in a peaceful, quiet location. Here is how Sean proposed in their own words:
Kate knew it was coming. It was only a matter of time. If you know Kate, you know she does NOT handle surprises well.
Sean was ready. Ring in glove box. He loved seeing her in a panic over when it was going to happen.
He waited…
He waited…(Kate almost proposed)…
He waited…
After receiving a positive performance review at work, Kate was stuck in traffic on her way out of the city, typical Friday night. The weather made it impossible for people to remember how to drive. Kate texted Sean her location and ETA and Sean texted back that he wanted to stay in tonight and was making dinner. Kate panicked not having control over the meal, but it was one less thing for her to worry about.
Upon Kate’s arrival back at the townhouse, Sean was dressed up. Since Sean works at a power plant he is rarely dressed up after work. When Kate asked him why he was looking so snazzy, he said he had lunch with his Grandmother. Kate accepted this explanation and thought nothing of it. Sean opened a lovely bottle of wine from the couple’s favorite vineyard for dinner and made something that resembled lasagna without the noodles. (is that even possible?)
After dinner and the bottle of wine, Sean insisted that they open a bottle of champagne to celebrate Kate’s review at work. Kate whined that she didn’t feel like drinking anymore, I know who would have thought?! Sean persisted and Kate caved. While Sean was pouring the champagne, Kate began to complain about the state of the housing market, and then took a gulp out of her drink. Without realizing, Sean had put a ring in the glass. Sean pointed out to Kate she may want to take it easy, and then she noticed the ring. She immediately said yes, on one condition….Sean had to get down on one knee.
