Melanie was not planning on going out to the Spotted Pig in the West Village that night. Her friend, and now Maid-of-honor Julia, went out with her for a casual night. Adam’s brother, Brian and one of his Best Men, was in town visiting from Chicago and he spotted the two beautiful young ladies at the bar. Brian may have started the conversation, but it was Melanie and Adam who felt the sparks. And now, just a year after their engagement Melanie and Adam have become husband and wife!
Among other things, Melanie and Adam share a love for writing which inspired their book theme wedding held in the library at the New York Academy of Medicine in Manhattan, NY. It is fits that Adam tell the story of their engagement, as he tells it so well:
“from our website: I knew immediately when we arrived in Sevilla that this was where I wanted to propose to Melanie. We woke up our first morning in Sevilla to another hot and sunny day, and I knew I wanted to get the ring out of my pocket and onto her finger as soon as possible. I figured right after breakfast would be perfect. Not being a coffee drinker, I incomprehensibly drank four cups with my breakfast. I have never eaten four pieces of toast so anxiously. After breakfast, I convinced Melanie that we should take the elevator to the roof of the hotel to look at the view of the Cathedral from the café up there. As we got off the elevator, I saw exactly what I wanted: no one on the roof. The half-gallon of caffeine from the coffee hit my blood stream and my adrenaline simultaneously shot up with the knowledge that this life-changing moment was about to happen. I gave Melanie a hug as a means to begin. Melanie immediately said “oh my god, you drank too much coffee, your heart is pounding!” I awkwardly laughed and played it off before taking a knee. Melanie looked a little confused but quickly realized that, although we were both in reasonable states of dishevelment, she was about to be asked to be my bride. Neither of us remember much about the next several hours, but she definitely said “yes.” The day we return from our honeymoon will be exactly 364 days after this fantastic morning in Sevilla, capping an incredible year in both of our lives.”
Melanie and Adam we are so happy for you as you begin your new married life together and wish you a lifetime of love and happiness, congratulations!
