Yesterday we had the opportunity to experience what it is like on the other side of the camera. Our good friend, Dan, of Daniel J Photography took us out for an engagement style photography session. We were super excited for several reasons (a) to have new photos of ourselves for our website and blog, (b) to have beautiful photos celebrating our love and (c) see what its like to be photographed.
Our main motivation for scheduling this session with Dan was for reason (a) – to have new promo photographs to use on our website, but I was really really excited for the other reasons because we never did an engagement session when we got married. And if we could go back we definitely would have changed that!I cannot wait to have a beautiful canvas to display in our home, not just of scenery but a representation of the love between us. Seriously, this is going to be the longest several weeks E-V-E-R! So I really am experiencing what its like for our couples!
Paul and I have done a TON of engagement sessions so we knew what to expect – we knew how it would go and that we would laugh, kiss, hug, have fun, and bond. But we were both really impressed by how much it made us feel like we were falling in love all over again. In the middle of the session Paul said those exact words to me, that he felt like he was falling in love all over again. Even more than all the reasons I wrote in the Top 5 Reasons Why to Have an Engagement Session blog post, this was more meaningful and made such an impact… well maybe its tied for first place 🙂 But it really was such a pleasure – especially after the craziness of planning our outfits, planning hair & makeup and setting up babysitting – to just BE together. We did not have to worry about what we would do when we got there. All we had to do was to love on each other, be present to each other, and enjoy it! What a gift that is to experience.
